How old do you have to be to solemnize a marriage in the state of Texas?

Hello, I live in the state of Texas and I have 2 friends who are 18 who want me to marry them. I became an ordained minister without any questions asked through a Chaplain of a church, but I’m 16. Do I have to be a legal adult to marry people or just an ordained minister?

According to this link, the officiants have to be at least 18 years old. At least, that’s the way I read it.

The best thing to do would be to contact the local county clerk’s office for whichever county you live in and ask. If you don’t want to, have one of your friends do it. The phone numbers for all of them are at the bottom.
