How many items is appropriate to register for a baby registry?

I am having my first baby, and my husband and I are confused as to how many items we should register for. We don’t want to seem too greedy, but we also want to give our babyshower guests some options. We also would like a larger number so the gifts will be some sort of “surprise” to us! What’s the average number of items on the registry? Is it ok to register for “embarrassing items” such as nipple cream, and other breast feeding supplies?

Register for how ever much you want and for whatever you want as long as its baby related. Just because you put 200 items on your registry does not mean that the guests must buy that many. It also gives them a choice of what to pick from. My guests actually didnt even use my registry wich kinda sucked cuz I got lots of stuff I didnt really need, but still aprecated! You may also want to put in the invitation to save tags and reciepts! My guests didnt do this and took the tags off all the clothes and you cant exchange them if they do not have tags.

Of course put any items you want on there even breats creams and pads, a pump if you need one. Inless you will to embarrased at your shower if you open something like this, but you better get use to it because its going to be the normal for you now 🙂 I thought about the same thing when I started my registry then, i was just eh what the heck. I put that stuff on there too, I didnt end up getting any of it, im sure the guest didnt want to buy it hehe. anyways like i said, if you need it put it on there!

    Good luck to you.

Rather than having 1 hudge list, you could register at more than 1 store and have 2 or 3 smaller lists for your registry. Up to you.

It does not seem greedy to put lots of things on there! Nobody will think that…. its also good to have a wide price range to choose from.

Once that baby is out and you are breastfeeding, you won’t see them as embarrassing items anymore…YES definitely register for EVERYTHING you think you’ll need. Who knows, maybe you will get it all or close to it!

I registered for the following and then some:
    baby bathtub
    baby shampoo and soap
    wash cloths
    baby swing
    high chair
    car seat
    stroller
    blankets
    diapers
    wipes
    breastpump
    breastmilk storage bags
a few outfits not many….people go nuts on their own especially if its a girl!
    diaper bags
    play mat
    a couple toys
    changing table pad
    fitted covers for the pad
    a playpen
    a jumper
    a baby monitor
a boppy (its slightly overrated by the way)
    bottles…..

Oh I don’t even know what else…we got quite a bit of that…we were very lucky. Anyway….how can you get what you need if you leave things off the list? Good luck to you two!!

The only thing that would make you look greedy is if you registered for these types of “baby related items.”
    -sewing machine
    -vacuum cleaner
    -toaster oven
    -pulsating muscle massager
    -new medicine cabinet
I actually was sent a registry with these being the only items put on by the new mom. She carried them over from her wedding registry! As long as you register for things that you actually need for the baby, you won’t come off as greedy. If it doesn’t embarrass you to have breastfeeding supplies on your registry, then go for it! 🙂 If someone knows you plan on breastfeeding they mean even get you things you never even knew you might need.
And it goes without saying you should get thank you notes out in a timely manner. Taking the time to register for gifts and then not taking the time to formally thank them definitely seems greedy.

That not being greedy it being smart. By giving a larger list and different price ranges you make it easier for others to buy something in their own price range. While you most likely will not get everything it will increase you gifts. As far as embarising items. nipple cream may be a bit much but a breast pump or pads to stop leakage wouldn’t be out of the question
