What will it look like when my babies eyes start to turn color?

Seeing babies are born with blue eyes … what will it look like 1) if they are going to stay blue .. will they lighten? and 2) if they are turning hazel or brown … will you see speckling and where in the eye will it turn color first?

My son had very dark blue eyes until he was about 6 months old. They gradually got lighter but were turning green.

For myself and other kids I know with blue eyes their eyes got lighter and bluer the older they got. The brown eyed kids in my family’s changed early on…within the first few months.

Babies of African and Asian descent are usually born with brown eyes that stay brown. Caucasian babies are often born with steel gray or dark blue eyes; they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time they’re 9 months old. That’s because a child’s irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she’s born, but they won’t get “lighter” or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes actually have more pigment than grey or blue eyes, even if they appear lighter in color.)

Some say it takes almost 6 months of age to really know. My nephew had blue and then they went grayish green for awhile but know he has brown eyes like his dad. My daughter was born with blue that went into a Violet ocean blue. She is only 4.5 months old right now with her daddy’s eye color I hope they don’t change.
