What is the best second row placement for infant and toddler car seats when need both installed?

I have a 2005 Honda Odyssey as my car and need to install car seats for a 2 1/2 year old and an infant. Should I attach the infant carrier car seat in the left or right seat of the second row? Am I better off sliding the second row right side seat to the middle or leaving the seat all the way to the right side?

The safest spot for any car seat is the middle seat in the back (duh). As long as both kids are in the back it shouldn’t matter if it’s on the left or right side.

When we were in that situation we put the infant seat in the middle facing backwards and the toddler seat on the passenger side. The seats were right next to each other but they say that is the safest placement for both of them together.

We have an Odyssey as well. We have twins and a 4 year old and the 4 year old sits in the back row. but the way I would do it is have your baby behind the passenger seat, it is more accessable and the 2.5 year old behind the driver.

ideally you should put a child seat in the middle of the rear seat in a car. in a van you want the middle of the middle seat. The idea is to have as much space between the child and the sides of the car as possible so they are as far away from a front rear or side impact as possible. Unfortunately that only works if you only have one child. with the two kids I would keep them both in the centre row of the van and move the seats into the centre most position. so they are the furthest from the sides as possible.

Easy way is to put the toddler on the left seat and bring the right seat to the middle and put your infant there. Best way I can think of.

I have my toddler on the passenger side and my baby on the driver side. There is not enough room for one in the middle. I like it this way because I put a mirror on the back headrest to see my baby while I am driving and that would be too hard if he were on the passenger side. So I can just turn to see my toddler and look in the rear view mirror to see my baby.
