Is it a good idea to get my boyfriend a promise ring for valentines day?

We have been together for 5 years now. Every year we both go all out for each other. This year i want to get him something that comes from my heart. Is this a bad idea to get him that ring? If not then what are some other ideas on a good gift? We are both 18 so give me some ideas PLEASE!!

    RING?!?! Not at all! A ring symbolizes so much. That should be saved for marriage. Just do something romantic.
