I dont like where my boyfriend lives and his dad makes me feel awkward?
BUT I really like the guy! we’ve been together 4 months and its been obvious since the first day I visited him that I would not like where he lived or his dad. Considering I spend a lot of time there (to make it fair so he’s not always seeing me) I dont think the boyfriend has cottoned on that I can barely relax and only like spending time there if we’re out a lot of the time and upstairs. His dad is a drunk, constantly swearing and he lives in a “not so nice” house.
I feel like i’ll never take the relationship seriously because of this
what should I do? Help!

Maybe You’re just a little bit biased and prejudging your boyfriends dad. You did say that you’ve felt this way since the first time you were there. You could just try to understand the man, and step into he’s shoes, and maybe you’ll not feel so awkward around him. Try being open minded.
That is, of course, unless the dad has actually done any harm to you, or if he’s been rude to you. If that’s the case, you should tell your boyfriend that he’s father is rude to you, and you do not want to be around him. Because in that case you have a legit reason.

Explain your concerns with your boyfriend about his Dad and see if you can come up with any solutions between the two of you. There are many different options to choose from but you’d need to state more specific information about the loan before I could advise anything specific. I personally would probably not bring up the “not so nice” house issue since that may be a personal topic and might honestly make you look a little conceited.
