How could I get get motivated to do good in school, do I have a reason?
Honestly, I do want to do good in school but I can’t find a reason why.
I’m 16 and I pretty much get whatever I want. we are not rich but we are upper middle class, I guess.Why would I want to bust my butt and try to get into a good college and strive for high grades just to achieve the same quality of life that I have now?
I love living with my parents, I basically have no rules.

With THAT attitude, motivation will NOT come your way.
Are you PLANNING on living with your parents for the rest of your life? Are they planning on keeping you for that long? If that’s the case, then you don’t have to do well in school. If you want to be the 40 year old who lives with his mom, THAT would be embarrassing.
Think about that and work to make YOUR OWN money so you have something to be PROUD of. If you want to be mooching off your parents forever, how does that make you look? Don’t you want to be a guy who earns his own money and is well off on HIS terms? Don’t you want to be proud of yourself?
And even if you think you’re “rich enough” don’t you think you could do even better if you just tried? You could go from upper middle class to upper class and be even wealthier, except you did all the work and you can live in a nice big house and stuff.
Even if you’re not materialistic, you ought to have some sort of PRIDE that might make you do something that doesn’t involve your parents at all.
My parents are quite rich but quite honestly, I’d rather DIE than live with them for the rest of my life which is why I work really hard in school and get really good grades and strive for the best.

You have to realize something, that is your parents money. When you become an adult you have to make your own money and if you don’t go to college, you wont be making much money, What should motivate you is that you are used to living comfortably, so when you become an adult, wouldn’t you want to continue to live that way?

because if you don’t you will be flipping burgers at micdonalds and living in a card board box your parents did not create that life for you easily they had to work hard to accomplish that and so will you if you don’t want to be a hobo when you grow up plus girls like SMART guys not dumb idiot slackers

honestly i feel the same way.
i found that if you find out what you want to do in life thats your motivation.
like i want to be a psychopharmacologist.
i know i never will be one (lack of a good gpa and money)
but ill settle for a clinical psychologist.
that has motivated me a little
also getting the fuckkk out of my house seems to have made a difference think of all the things you could do without having your parents around!!!
and college should be the time of your lifee cause you meet people and PARTY!

Because I got news for you, the American economy is dying and student loans are drying up. If you don’t work hard now, you’ll spend your life in poverty. If you don’t want to live in a shack, you’ll work hard. If you do, just continue what you’re doing now and one day I’ll give you a job cleaning my dogs craps for 10 cents an hour

Liscen kid. I use to say the same thing I’m 19 years old and experienced about life a lot. I wish I could exchange positions with you right now. I’m working my ass of every day sick of life. Kid. You have to understand 1 thing that could help you a lot in life. Money is so nothing money is drama stress pain hate seperation anger and worst most people committe to death though they really sick of life like enough is enough. Work hard in school and definatly college because you could be anyone of those who you see on tv. There is nothing more powerfull then acknowlege. You could be FBI. CIA a lawyer and a doctor anything. And when that time comes and you graduate then you can consider your self living quality because you could never trust the future error and that’s a struggle in life if you can manage to work you know what atleast finish high school and then work and see for your self. Would you rather work your ass of the rest of your life trying to catch with with bills. Liscen to the ones that experienced it and you should maintain the rise as you land your goals and dreams not trusting the money and wealth your family is providing you with. They won’t be there for thr length of your life. You have to first of all. Make sure you have goals and what you want to be and then go from there. Remember money won’t last and you plan cause plans never come the way to expected or even thought of. I hope this should be helpfull and good luck

Your parents money isn’t going to be around forever.
If u have that attitude, your going to realize that your parents will not want to provide for you forever. Which will mean u will be forced to get a crappy job where u won’t earn a lot and regret even thinking this!!!
Your parents probably want you to go to school so that you can stay that way, not lower your quality of life to accommodate your non education.
I know this sounds lame, but think of all the children in the world that can’t get a decent education. And your complaining that you can’t be motivated to do well in school because ur PARENTS are upper middle class. What happens when the money is gone? What will you have to resort to to get money?
I think that it is ignorant of you to say that to be quite honest haha. I’d say im upper middle class too. But i bust my butt off in school to get good grades for the reward of having intelligence and being able to get a good job later in life when my parents are no longer able to provide for me.
Anyway sorry for the rant. But i think you should work hard, at least not even to repay your parents back when they’re old?

I have the same problem… i just think that if i dont work in school, my parents will cut off all the money and ill be stuck at a fast food place, washing cars, or some other crappy job like that. Plus, whos to say u wont get a better quality of life?
