A awkward Valentines date?

My friend has been going out w/ this guy for about 4 months, & I met him for the first time a couple weeks ago. After getting to know him all of a sudden he asked me if I was single, & right away I thought this guy was a player but then he said “No-No I’m asking because my roommate is single & I just think you guys should meet each other.” I’m not really into the whole blind dating thing, but I was curious to know some stuff about his roommate. So he told me that his friend is he’s 21 & has never had a gf before because he’s shy… I thought that was the cutest thing ever, & I was interested in meeting him already. So as my friend & I dropped her boyfriend back to his house he invited us in for a bit. As soon as I went inside I saw his roommate, he was looking down at us from the second floor. I was immediately attracted to him, but the sad part is… we didn’t say anything to each other, I only saw him for that split second.
This weekend we’re all going to be hanging out together (yes, on valentine’s day) so his roommate & I will actually talk for the first time… I know my friend and her bf will probably say embarrassing things like “aww you guys look cute together” or “you two should go out”
…How do you keep a conversation interesting & not awkward with a guy that’s shy?

Well just act yourself and ignore your friends there. Don’t say anything that might offend your friends though. Just act natural and you got it.

obviously they gon say embarrassing things. laugh it off. he’s shy…get him to talk. if u don feel comfortable wit ur frens there. bring him aside and talk or even betta go on a seperate date. to keep conversation interesting, u hv to hv a knowledge of wat he likes. dont talk alot abt urself. make him ask u…

Hahaha. If your friends say embarassing things like that, you always have the option of twisting it around and throwing it right back at them. “Aww, you guys look cute together!” “Almost as cute as you two!” (If you like the guy) or “Not as cute as you two!” if you aren’t really into him. Other than that, just take it as an opportunity to get to know each other as people for right now, see if you guys have any common ground or interests at all. If you like each other, swap numbers by the end of the night, and set up a second date for just you two. Just be yourself, be comfortable, and learn the art of conversation. Ask questions if you are genuinely curious, but don’t interrogate; that’s especially important if he is shy, and the best way to get him to talk is to ask him stuff. If it doesn’t work out, then it doesn’t work out, obviously if that is the first and only time you have seen him, you don’t have the problem of running into each other all the time, so I wouldn’t stress over it too much. Best of luck! =)
