Wouldn’t it be wise of me not to have children, if I have no desire and know for a fact I wouldn’t be a good?

father anyway?
I’m 26 and have always been awkward around kids and really do not interact with them much.
Isn’t this also a very legitimate reason to have a vasectomy done, since I know I won’t change my mind.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with choosing to not have children. Several married couples are choosing to not have children and they are happy.

If you know for a fact it wouldn’t be good, then yes it would be wise.
Also, since you have no desire for children, then, following that logic, it would not be good, because you would be forced into doing something you want no part of, and no one works at full potential at a job they dislike, and parenting is definitely an area where you want to be working at full potential.

    So it’s very wise.

Yes, but you could improve as a father (maybe) by reading lots of parenting books and thinking about how to be a good father. And you probably would not be awkward around your own kids, though you might be awkward around their little friends.

But since you have no desire, please do not have kids.

ah never say never. i thought like you when i was 26 and now im 28 and think differently. i dated a girl with kids and it changed my opinion. however, i would not have kids with just anybody. if i were to have kids my girl and i would have to be seriously in love for a few years

If you do not want to be a father, then by all means, don’t be.

As far as the vasectomy thing, I think once you’ve hit 25 most doctor’s will waive the 1 kid rule for guys. Vasectomies have proven to be reversible in some cases, although it isn’t an option you should pursue just as a temporary means of birth control because there is a chance that a reversal won’t work.
