Will you be getting the flu shot for your LO?

All of my children always get their flu shots if they are old enough to receive the vaccine, and they definitely will be this year since my youngest is only a month old. We don’t want her, or any of the kids, catching it.

My 5 year old got the mist this year. I haven’t attempted to get my 3 year old the mist yet. We all 3 got it last year together, but I wasn’t working during the day and had the time to take them. This year my son got his at school.

Yep. My son is 5 and has gotten one every year. My daughter will be 2 in 2 weeks and this year was her second one. I get one each year too. This year I am also preggo with #3 so when he’s born in 9 days…he will already be protected because I already had the shot.

My daughter and I both have asthma and my son has allergies. Getting the shot ensures if we do actually catch something…we can get over it faster without spending time in the hospital!!

The first year a child gets it, they get 2 half doses 30 days apart. When you take him, he will get the first half and then you’ll have to take him back in approximately 30 days to get the second half or it’s not effective.

Yes my 12 month will be 13 months old on the 26 of this month. she got the flu shot almost a week after her first birthday. I recently got over a terrible terrible flu that i had to be hospitalized for. my 12month old was around me and fortunately she haven’t gotten the flu or any signs of a cold. I’m not sure if it was from the shot or not. some say the flu shot will cause the flu while it work wonders for others. Everyone is different. You should discuss any questions you have with your child’s doctor.

I will not be getting myself vaccinated this year. I had a reaction to the flu shot last year (got quite ill) so I am thinking that I must be allergic to one of the components of it.

I will be getting my girls vaccinated again this year though. I am doing so because my girls are adopted and their backgrounds are classified under high risk for the flu and H1N1. Also, because they were adopted, they didn’t receive any breast milk so they have no maternal immunity.

    No, absolutely not.

The flu shot has not been proven effective or safe for children 6 months-2 years.

Since I have an 8 yo boy in 3rd grade and he’s exposed to the flu by being around all the other kids, yes I will be getting all 3 of my kids the flu shot.

Last year my 8 yo had the H1N1 flu shot as well as the regular flu shot. This year, they’ve combined the two so they’ll only need the one…

I have a 3 year old and a 14 month old. I don’t plan to get flu shots for any of us. I’m a stay-at-home mom, so they aren’t exposed to as much as if they were in school or daycare. We do go to lots of playdates, library, etc. but when I hear that something is going around or a lot of people are sick, then we stay home more. I’m breastfeeding my 14 month old (and my daughter was breastfed for 2 years) so he has that additional protection. Usually they don’t get sick as much as I do, and even when they do get sick they get a milder case and recover faster.

I’m not convinced the flu shot works that well – I know a lot of people who regularly get get the shot and still get sick. I also know people who don’t get it, and never get sick. It only protects against whatever flu strains they put in it – if the flu virus mutates after they create or a different strain takes over, it won’t help. Like with any other vaccination, the flu shot carries some risks of side effects. I don’t see any reason to take those risks without a definite benefit. The flu is no fun, but it is very rarely life-threatening and usually doesn’t even require medical treatment.

I would not give the flu shot to an infant. Me and my husband got the shot and that should help prevent our infant from getting the flu. Also, I make a huge effort to keep my house clean from disease.
