One of my New Years’ resolutions is learning to play guitar?
One of my New Years’ resolutions is to learn the guitar.
How do I first go about this? I’m pretty much a complete noob at this all, and i basically have no information.
Any processes I need to do as well as guitar info helps.

Of course, the first thing to do if you haven’t already: Buy a guitar!! Once you have that, you can take two routes: learn using notes and actual sheet music, or learn using tabs.
Tablature (tabs) is especially good for people who don’t know how to read music or don’t plan on taking lessons. Tabs consist of six lines, each representing a guitar string, and numbers indicating which fret to use. The numbers will be on the respective string, so you know exactly where to put your fingers. For tabs, I would recommend http://www.ultimate-guitar.com where you can find lessons and almost any song you may want to learn.
However, the better way to learn would be to get a good “Teach Yourself Guitar” book and learn to read real music. This way, you’re not limited to what the tabbing community puts out there for you, and you can read from books and other sources as well. Or, if you want to go the extra mile, get a teacher and take lessons. There is no better way to learn the basics of a new instrument than to find someone to help you through it.
Hope this helps, and good luck with your resolution!!

i recommend getting a guitar after you have learned a little bit, so go to a music store or a instrument rental place and rent a guitar. the second step is to find a guitar teacher, and the best way to do this is through the music store you got your rental guitar from or the phone book. after you feel comfortable playing the guitar and can play relatively well, then you should buy your own guitar.
