Is pulling out while on the pill a effective way to prevent pregnancy?

My girlfriend has been on the pill for 2 years I have been pulling out all those years and no pregnancies have occurred (Knock on wood.) Is this still a safe road to be traveling on? Am I being too paranoid? Or should I be expecting in the years to come?

The pill alone is 99% effective. The pill and any other method is 99% effective. You’re being safe, but a bit paranoid.

The pill is working. The pull out method has a 90% fail rate!

Pull out is not effective and doesnt guarantee anything, if she is on BC properly then she should be ok but its not always 100% best to use a condom as well!

I was on the pill 10 years with no pregnancies (as soon as I went off them, I fell pregnant within a month with the first, a month with the second and used pull out method for six months and fell pregnant with the third (I wasn’t using birth control) .

As long as your girlfriend ALWAYS takes it on time, uses back up methods when she is ill with a stomach bug or taking antibiotics, there is a very very slim chance of pregnancy.

The pill is there to prevent pregnancy. It is over 99% effective. That is safe.

If over 99% isn’t good enough for you, or she sometimes takes it wrong, then pulling out won’t make a real difference to back-up because it is so ineffective, and you should use a condom.

If you’re okay with the 0.1% chance then no need to pull out. If you’re not okay with it then use condoms.

Birth control is 99% effective, however there are cases where women still get pregnant on birth control. So pulling out is not a good form of birth control. I do not think you are being too paranoid, I think that if you do not want a baby then you should start wearing a condom. Hope that helps you out.

I believe the man means using both methods of BC at the same time. Everyone on this forum who knocks the pull out method needs to do some research. If done correctly, pulling out is 82% effective, and the pill is 99% effective. Put those two together and yes, you are technically safer.
