How would you feed a stubborn baby with a bottle?

No stupid answers please.

She refuses and hates the bottle. She screams every time she’s fed with the bottle.

Any tips?

How old is she? Maybe she would do better out of a cup? Or, maybe she has an ear infection – babies are very prone to them, and the sucking will make it hurt worse.

So is she breastfed? She isn’t being stubborn, she just knows what she wants. Try using a cup instead, she may do better with that. Also, you may need to try different nipples and find one that she likes.

First of all try to find out if she has any problem in sucking or in her mouth to do so. Secondly try to see what type of nipple u are using. Thirdly if she is refusing wait, don;t get panick , try to pacify her by singing lulaabies or patting her very calmly, looking at her eyes with smile assure her , divert her attention and then give her a little milk, wait again try, do this way. And u can also try to feed her with a very small spoon specially made for babies. And I think she is new born and u have no expereince to go with that. So also try to see if she hasa ny stomach pain and some babies can not tolerate milk. So u have to find out, but slowly and with lots of patience try it please. Sory about that but I myself go with this kind of phase with my baby.
    good luck

So don’t feed her with a bottle, there’s nothing inherently better about a bottle. They create negative pressure in the ear canal contributing to ear infections, even the orthodontic ones can cause orthodontic problems, and in breastfed babies they cause nipple confusion.

You can use a cup, paladai, spoon, finger feeding or syringe to feed baby. Yes a newborn can be fed with a cup, that is the traditional way to feed babies and when done properly its perfectly safe and often faster than a bottle.

There are a number of options for feeding baby when you are unable to directly breastfeed – a bottle is only one of them. If your baby is older than 4-6 months old, consider going straight to a cup. If your baby is less than 3-4 weeks old, it is best to avoid the use of a bottle for a couple of reasons:

    * regular use of a bottle instead of breastfeeding can interfere with mom’s efforts to establish a good milk supply
    * bottle use also increases baby’s risk of nipple confusion or flow preference

Following are some resources for alternative feeding methods.

Bottle | Cup, Dropper, Spoon | Finger Feeding | At Breast | Back to Breast | Older Babies

im not sure how old your baby is.. but im hoping since she wont drink a bottle that u are breastfeeding?

try different shaped nipples maybe she will like one more than the other.

also have her checked for a ear infection.

Hi, my now 10 year old did this

at 1 month old she refused the bottle full stop I was not breastfeeding, what I did was give her her milk out of a juice cup with a straw and that worked also I started feeding her a bit baby rice as well.

If she is older than one year you might want to try switching to a sippy cup. Is she primarily breastfed? Babies know what they want and she might just prefer to be breastfed.

does she hate the bottle because she is breastfed and used to nursing at the breast?
    how old is she?
why are you introducing the bottle?
    going back to work?

if you are going back to work and trying to get her used to the bottle after being breastfed you may need to get someone else to feed the baby… alot of bbies refuse the bottle if given by the mom, if the mom usually nurses baby.. so you may need someone else to feed the baby
second if you are nursing and introducing a bottle and if the bottle has formula the baby my also be rejecting not just the bottle but the formula…..hve you ever tasted the difference between breastmilk and formula…. in comparision formula is the nastiest stuff out there tastewise

if you are not going back to work nd are just introducing a bottle for supposed convience then you may just have to stick to the breast for now as it really isn’t worth the stress of forcing a bottle whe na bottle is not wanted but the breast is

IF your baby is formula fed and for some reason now refusingthe bottle maybe she is teething
