How old do most average girls start their periods?
My friend is like 16 and hasn’t started her period yet and her and she is worried. She always ask why hasn’t she started yet she’s heard that it is really serious.

A girl can start her period anywhere between 10 and 18.
I started mine the month before I turned 11.

My daughter did at 11 but my niece did at 9. It varies. She should see a doctor if she is worried.

I was 9 and that was weird. It’s nothing to worry about if she is 16. Anytime we find ourselves out of the norm we get worried, but there is no need. She’ll start soon enough. Is she very thin? When a girl weighs over 100 pounds is usually when it will happen. It really depends on the person though.

She’s still got about 5 years before she’s actually out of the “normal” time.
I got mine at exactly 13 and a half. It was like 2 days after my sister’s wedding, and I’m SO glad it didn’t come during that! lol

I was thirteen , but she should talk to her doctor . All girls are advised to see a doctor if they haven’t started by then .

I started mine at 11.
I would have LOVED to have not started my period till years later.
From 11 to 14, all I was allowed to use was pads, meaning I had to miss swimming in the summer, I was PISSED when my mom would leave me at home and take my brother swimming, I loved going to the pool, it was my favorite thing to do.
Your friend should consider herself lucky.

That’s pretty bad. Most people get it between the ages of 11-15.
I started a few months after I turned 12. I was one of the first out of my friends to have it. Most of them got it when they were 13.

I just turned 14 when I got mine. It is different for everyone. Tell her to see her doctor. I visited my doctor when I was 12 for a physical and he asked if I had my period yet, and I didn’t. So he said it’s normal as long you get it before you are 18. If not, it’s important to see a doctor. Something could be wrong with her plumbing.

not always– she might be a late developer, tell her to go and see her dr and get checked if shes worried
