How long does it take to get pregnant after depo?

I’ve been on Depo for 6 months. The hubby and I are going to start trying again in 4 months. I’m due for a shot next week. Should I get it? About how long would it take us to get pregnant again after 6 months of BC?

It really depends on the person but I have heard so many stories of women who’s shots have run out and it takes them a while to get back to normal where they can start trying to conceive. In my opinion I would skip the shot this time and avoid fertile times or use a condom since you are wanting to start trying in a few months anyway. This way you will be sure that all of the depo is out of your system and if by cance you happen to get pregnant a little earlier…you were anting one anyway right. I hope this helps..Good Luck!!!!

I was on depo and got AF (aunt flo) back 7 months after depo wore off. Hopefully you won’t have to wait that long since you’ve only been on it for 6 months but I would tell your doc about your plans and ask her/him what the best option for you would be. Maybe not getting the shot but going on the pill until you are ready to try would be better since I’ve heard that the pill can help regulate your cycle. Wishing you luck in the future!

If I were you I wouldn’t get it again. I’m standing firm that the shot is seriously the worst form of birth control out there. Sure, it’s got a great and I mean outstanding way to prevent pregnancy but for me and many other people it prevented it far far far longer then they had ever expected.

I tried to get pregnant for two years after just one shot of depo provera. It was not me or my husband. I didn’t get my period for the entire year after I got off the shot. Then after I started getting my period they were so irregular. It really breaks my heart to see other people go through this. Luckily, I have a son now but I will never put that into my body again.

Another woman I know also has had fertility problems [not related to any other problem BUT the shot] for five years after being on it for four years. It’s really sad.

I would get off of it ASAP. Sure, there are people who get pregnant right after they get off but to me losing my fertility completely is a risk I’m no longer willing to take.

[If you read the small print on the disclaimer at the doctor’s office which many forget to tell is that it can cause infertility.]

OMG that stuff is pure EVIL! I know sooooo many who have problems TTC after taking the shots. Best thing to do is not get it now if planning on trying soon.

    Hi there..

I don’tmean to be rude..but your last question refred to wanting to put your 7month old on milk as you could not afford to buy the formula…Do you really think it is a good idea to bring another baby into the world you clearly can not afford just yet?
